P&P, active in pelagic, bottom and tuna fishing and fish and shrimp processing, took an interest in the Volendammer company Platvis Holland B.V. on 19 August 2019. The current activities of Platvis Holland B.V. will be continued at its current location in Edam only now in conjunction with P&P.
Platvis started as a local filleting company of plaice in Volendam and has developed into a leading producer of all flatfish species. In recent years Platvis has also specialised in the production of frozen fish concepts with a large variety of flavours and crumbs. As a result, Platvis has grown into a European player that supplies its products to the major retailers and large restaurant chains in Europe.
However, in order to be able to give more depth to its product portfolio, to start new activities and to serve an even larger market, it proved necessary to join a larger party in order to be able to achieve this goal. This picture fits in perfectly with the strong consolidation currently taking place in the European Seafood market.
P&P will integrate its existing flatfish activities where appropriate into the new partnership in order to create a win-win situation for all parties.
P&P and Platvis have also taken over Nordpesca Europe N.V. to strengthen their ambitions and this will continue to operate under the name Nordpesca Holland B.V. This Belgian company will be transferred to the Netherlands in the former company of Van de Gruiter and now falls within the group of Platvis Holland B.V. We believe that the addition of Nordpesca will further improve and increase our position in the fresh market in Europe.
